This Acer Chromebook Plus 515 does NOT have a backlight keyboard, one of the most important features for me....
...The big screen is also really nice for me. The keys aren’t backlit buuuut… I don’t personally need that function. I recommend it!

Lightweight Chromebook with a 15.6' Screen
This Acer Chromebook Plus 515 is very impressive. The only Chromebook I had used before this was issued by my son's elementary school, but this one is a major upgrade. It is very lightweight, but I love that it has a generously sized 15.6 inch screen and looks like a regular laptop. It was easy to set up, and I have the option for a free trial of Gemini AI Pro. Since this is ChromeOS, I am not able to install software like Photoshop, but many apps are available. It handles surfing the Internet and basic tasks very well. This will be great for my son to use for school work, and it will be a better option than a regular laptop for when he needs to travel with a computer. It also comes with a really nice padded laptop sleeve with a zippered pocket, which is great for students since many backpacks don't have great protection built-in. This costs more than the average Chromebook, but the size and functionality make it worth it to me.

The keys aren’t backlit buuuut… I don’t personally need that function. I recommend it!

I was disappointed to find out it did not have a backlit keyboard. Otherwise, my wife really likes it, but it is deceptive advertising that resulted in me making a purchase I might not otherwise have made.

The touchpad is inferior quality. It almost immediately starts doing things on its own. It has closed down my webpages more than once while I was trying to type. I exchanged this for the same due to thinking it was a faulty single item. The replacement had an identical issue. The first one I received had other issues as well.
The sound is poor on this model. I need to use a bluetooth speaker when listening to video or music.
Value for money is not there. It is slow, and not only no better than, but actually inferior to other brands with similar build setups. I am returning this and buying an ASUS that will be about 40 bucks less.
I don't like to leave negative reviews but this has too high a star value and people should be aware it is not a good quality item. AVOID
I had an ASUS that lasted me 3 years. If I wanted to replace the battery, it would probably last me 3 more. This Acer has had an issue since the first couple of weeks.
Just save your money.

Style: 15.6" Touch / 8GB / 256GBVerified PurchaseThis is my 2nd Chromebook, I purchased this one to replace my old one which quit working after I dropped it, if that didn't happen, it would still be working. This one arrived in perfect condition and I charged it up before using it for the first time. Like magic, I logged into my Google account, and everything loaded right onto this new laptop, I didn't have to do a thing, very easy to set up. The only thing that didn't automatically sync with the new chromebook, were my downloads. I believe I need to take some extra steps to retrieve them because the old one has a black screen due to the drop. It turns on, but I can't view anything, so it may not be possible to retrieve them at all. It picked up my printer automatically and works well with my Brother laser printer, no connectivity issues there.
So far, this new Chromebook is working great. I like the clarity of the screen, I know some have mentioned issues with it, but for what I am using it for, mostly just surfing the web, not gaming, it is perfectly fine. The only thing that I would consider to be subpar, would be the volume, it is not as loud as my old CB. I purchased another one because I really did love everything about my old one and never had any issues with it. I usually have a LOT of tabs open, I know that's not a good thing lol, but it handles it very well, never had any issues with it crashing. I will probably purchase the warranty on it within the next 30 days just in case. If I have any issues with this new one, I will come back and update.
